Hi There,

Anyone have some good family stops to break the drive from MI to FL on I-75? Any input greatly appreciated!

Leave early while it's still dark when you drive through Ohio, and light by the time you hit Kentucky. Just enjoy the scenery in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Check out the giant dinosaur, it is in the parking lot of a fireworks store. I think it is near or at Lake City, Tennessee. It looks cool at night. It was still there last time I was down there in 2004.

Chattanooga TN: They have Lookout mountain, Rock City, Ruby Falls and lots of things to do in downtown Chattanooga. The Tenessee aquarium is really cool, its right on the river in Chattanoga. Tennessee is truly one of the prettiest states in the nation. Renfro Valley Ky, that is a touristy stop that is themed around country music. Dont get caught in Cinci or Atlanta at rush hour as you will regret it.

I loved going to Ruby falls.

When we were kids we used to beg our parents to stop at Ruby Falls. You see the signs for about 100 miles "ruby Falls" and we didn't know what it was.

Parents never stopped. Had to keep "on schedule".

As an adult, I drove to Florida from Michigan. WE went to Ruby falls. It was not that far off of i-75. Maybe 12 - 20 miles. Not very far at all. And it was cool to see.

HEre are some pics:

Many people blow through TN on the way to Florida, but in my opinion Tennessee has as much to see and do as Florida does.

The only time I ever rode from Michigan to Florida was when I was 8! the most memorable part of the drive down was lookout mountain, rock city and ruby falls!!!
I loved it and it was up there with Disney on that vacation!!!

haha, I have memories of being caught in Atlanta traffic and that was the first time I had ever seen 6 lanes of traffic in one direction

I always leave on a Friday going MI to FL and try and get far enough the first day so I'm going through Atlanta around 8 or 9 am Saturday morning, then traffic is very light. I don't bother using the 285 bypass either, just straight on 75 South right through downtown Atlanta.

I like the I69 to I65 to I24 then pick up 75 in Chattanooga way better, but it's not practical if your starting out in MI on the far east side.
