My son will be swearing in the National Guard this week. He is 17 and has dual citizenship with USA as he was born here, and we were born in Ireland so he gets that citizenship. He was told that while in reserve duty, he can hold both citizenships, however if he goes full time, he needs to denounce one. His irish passport has expired last year so he needs to get it renewed.
He can put off his decision for 6 years as he will be reserve.
