The service said in May that almost a third of airmen were failing in practice testing.
I shudder to think how many will still fail when it counts. They going to have a massive booting of people out? Great idea.

I applaud trying to make sure people are in shape, but this could blow up in their face IMO.

The Army has been tough on PT for years without major problems Air Force personel are just going to have to adjust and do the deal.

If I was a young AF person I'd be busting my ass PTing waiting for upward mobility as the older guys that won't change get the boot.

I still think the PT standards are retarded and pointless. But that's just my opinion. I played the game for 10 years and decided that was enough. Just not worth the effort.

I served on the ground with Air Force troops outside the wire in Iraq in 120+ degree heat. I know that good physical fitness is important. Troops that don't want to get with the program can do what you did...

Ha Ha Ha yeah they can.

I also served outside the wire in Iraq for a year and was obese according to the Military. I did just as good as everyone else, but being able to run a mile and a half is so important because we sure did a lot of that in combat.

Let me get this straight, you had 10 years in, are/were obese, served in Iraq, got out and now want to talk smack about new Air Force fitness polices?

You're asking for logic from the military? Good luck w/that.

Surprisingly, there is actual logic behind this one! It has little to do with deployment toleration and/or being in shape for your job...

The AF thinks by pushing a PT culture that an arm length list of things will happen if you're healthy...Reduce the chances of contracting a disease, lowering the odds of the depression, PTSD, suicide, etc.

There will be a lot of talented people forced to leave...Time will tell if this was a good idea or not. Some of the most brilliant guys I know in the service skip PT and stay two hours late...

FYI: The Guard is still once a year, obtaining a full time slot is extremely competitive...Reserve is twice a year.
