Has anyone spent any time at Laughlin? I was looking at a job in the area and wondered if anyone had any feedback on it.

I've seen the annual weather averages and it's not as bad as one would think.

There's a stable there but limited stalls so I imagine it might be hard to get one. I have a horse who is whiling away in another state and has been for years. I'd like to have him with me as we both grow too old to ride. (he's living in Kentucky, has his own herd and is absolutely thriving so... he might get mad if I move him to Texas)

I went to visit him and brought the dog grooming mitt with dog hair on it so he could smell his old friend.

I went to pilot training at Vance, and I'm very lucky that that is where I went and not Laughlin. I went to a UPT graduation at Laughlin several years ago and that belief was reinforced. Not much to it unless you like Mexican food and have a boat for the nearby lake. Every base has its goods and bads, but everyone I have known who went to Laughlin said it was someplace they didn't want to ever PCS to again. (One exception: an F-16 captain I met at Nellis who was at Cannon [Clovis, NM] and said compared to Cannon, Laughlin was like Hickam. )

As is true of every PCS, it is what you make of it. I've known someone who hated Myrtle Beach when it was open and another who loved K.I. Sawyer.
