Introducing the Army’s latest cap badge: Ranger Regiment - British Army
The Regiment will operate as part of the British Army's new Special Operations Brigade and will carry out a similar role to that of US Green Berets.
Each infantry division will have a Rangers unit made up of 200 soldiers, with the 11th Infantry Brigade to become the 11th Security Force Assistance Brigade, and will have a similar role to the US Army Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFABs).
Other Special forces will remain part of UK Special Forces (UKSF) and are not discussed by Army or Ministry of Defence.

The history of the Rangers goes all the way back to the US War of Independence and British Major Robert Rogers Rangers who raised a company of soldiers from the Province of New Hampshire. Even today US Rangers still adhere to the 28 "Rules of Ranging" set out by Robert Rogers.
