[quote=LIRefugee;25457680]Do you realize that neither are Milwaukee-based anymore?

Correct, Pabst and Schlitz are not Milwaukee-based owners anymore. Pabst left in '96 and Schlitz in the early '80's. But I suggested them for the picnic because they are both icons of Milwaukee history.

And because production is contracted to Miller, Schlitz is in fact brewed here at Miller's State Street facilities. (PBR at least in the past has been contracted to Miller, don't know the current status - if it is made here or at other Miller locations?)

Schlitz again being brewed, bottled in Milwaukee - JSOnline

You took the words...I mean the custard...right out of my mouth. Leon's has the BEST vanilla custard, hands down. And their Spanish burgers are pretty tasty, too. I think I need to head over to 27th and Oklahoma right now...

The inclusion of Usinger's sausages and Wisconsin cheese sounds good.

Sprecher's root beer is great, and I'd include beer from Sprecher and Lakefront Brewery.

For eats beyond sausage and cheese, I'd probably have something like corned beef and rye from Jake's, or I would get a variety of specialty subs from Glorioso's.

Perch from Golden Chicken is good, but I'd more likely consider a slab of ribs or other bbq from Speed Queen (or Ashley's). Another option would be to get a huge order of spit-roasted pork at Lucky's Euro Deli (Serbian specialties) on 84th in West Allis (they may also be able to provide you with a whole roasted pig). If you want chicken, I'd consider broasted chicken from Champion Chicken or fried chicken from the Bungalow (but I don't know how these would keep after cooling).

For deli salads and snacks, I'd go with Glorioso's on Brady.

For dessert, I'd skip the cream puffs, as they're more a State Fair thing than a Milwaukee thing. I like the idea of getting an assortment of sweets from Sciortino's, Canfora, Bay Bakery, etc. Some custard to go along with the sweets is essential, and I'd go either with Leon's (vanilla or butter pecan) or Kopp's flavor of the day (if it's compelling--sometimes they're not very interesting).
