I'm a 25 year old female currently living in uptown and looking to buy a home in Northeast mpls, can anyone give me any insight as to neighborhoods that are "good" versus neighborhoods to avoid?

The coolest part of NE Mpls is the "Arts Corridor" along 13th Ave NE from the river to Central Ave. Lots of restaurants & fun places to go.

I found a house in the Holland neighborhood. Does anyone have any thoughts on that area specifically?

I don't know that neighborhood very well, but it seems like a nice area. There's some nice restaurants around there, and there's the fabulous Firefighter museum! (right by Edison) It's a lot quieter than Uptown, and a bit more removed from many of the currently more trendy hotspots in NE, but I like the older houses over there. According the police community reports it's a safe neighborhood. The trains run right through there, so I suppose it's worth considering whether or not that will bother you. There was also some recent talk about a waste transfer station in that area; I haven't paid much attention to the debate, but it would be worth investigating the details and any implications before making a final decision.

We don't hang out in that area much but I'd consider it a decent neighborhood. There are alot of great restaurants off of Central Avenue (Holy Land, Kim's, etc.) and some cool neighborhood bars off of University Ave and also Hennepin Ave in that area too. We also really like the river parks and Nicollet Island area.

oo! I live in NE minneapolis. Broadway and Central. Andddd I walk to downtown every weekend (or try to). It's definitely fun. There are a lot of stores and clubs and cafes and fun. Uh, hmm.. I'm not sure about homes but I am surrounded by a lot of duplex. Neighborhood is definitely decent, not sure about the safe part since I never watch the channel 9 news. You want just homes or apartment is okay too?

I'm really just looking at purchasing a home. I just don't know specifically where to avoid. I know there are pockets of NE that are better than others, which is where I'm trying to go.

Best way to find your preferred neighborhood is to drive around and look. There are some totally trashy blocks in NE, right next to nice areas.
