Um. While the first thing that comes to mind is an ICEE, I have a feeling you mean something more like italian ice.

Look up Grand Italian Ice Cafe....I think it might be hard to find any sort of 'chain' place like Rita's (which seems to be regional and generally found in warmer climates).

He means Italian Ice, which are definitely not slushies or icees or snow cones. Around Philly they call Italian Ice water ice.

I never came across anywhere that served it in Minneapolis- only some very poor imitations in the grocery stores. An italian ice is typically made with real fruit stuff, not just flavoring squirted on ice. It can't hurt giving the place recommended above a try either, though.

I've heard the Grand Italian Ice place is the ONLY location in town to offer water ices, but I haven't checked it myself yet, and don't know if that's really the case. It's the only option I've ever heard of, though. (seems like this area is prime territory for some enterprising Rita's franchisee...)

Northside residents -- are there any places over there? I could swear I saw a sign for water ices somewhere on Broadway, but I could very well be imagining things.
