I like the idea of Best Buy but I hate shopping there. The had such horrible policies for a long time. I ordered an MP3 player online and mistakenly ordered the wrong color. I went to exchange it and they wanted $10 because the item was no longer on sale. My fault, yes, but they would have been out the 30 seconds it took to put the thing on the shelf. Instead they lost a customer. They've done this for a long time to a lot of people.

Best Buy isn't failing because they're too big, they're failing because shopping there sucks. There are plans to try and salvage the company and I hope it helps. They also use a lot of contractors so it's not just the employees that'll get hit. I don't want to see them go under and I'm willing to give them another try if the actually recognize that their policies played a role just as large as anything else.

They are opening small mobile stores and focusing on aftermarket car accessories. It won't work, IMO, but we'll see what the new guy does.

One more reason to be delighted that we saved their butts instead of just letting THEM become ex-brands.
I was just talking about Radio Shack this weekend when my wife I and were discussing how, despite living close to one of the frequently-mentioned "cute little downtowns", we virtually never go there. I said that if they had a Hardware Hank or Ace, something like a Radio Shack, and a drugstore, I'd head down there much more.

Radio Shack is also focusing on mobile and they took a loss because people are buying directly from the carrier. I think they're hanging in there though.

Everybody reaches for the same life buoy at the same time. Guess its because humans are a social species, get the same ideas at the same time.

Radio Shack is annoying with their address and phone number requests for every purchase. I stopped in for a pair of AA batteries once and they wanted my full name, address, and phone number before selling to me.

Were you talking about this? TVs, Computers, Cameras, GPS, Home Audio, Desktops, Laptops, Consumer Electronics, and More at CircuitCity.com

All that is, is that the company that owns Tigerdirect.com bought the rights to the name.
The company that owns Tigerdirect operates 3 websites(Tigerdirect, Compusa, and Circuit City), that are identical and the same thing except for their names

CircuitCity.com is back, copy of CompUSA & Tiger Direct site - Neowin

Thats very common for the names of out of business stores to be purchased by some other company and used for internet stores.
Theres a Montgomery Ward and Linens N Things website too, but those have no relation to the old brick & mortar stores. Different ownership and everything. They just paid money to use the name.
