I'm not holding my breath, although political might may push it through in the end. I personally think they should can the whole project and start fresh.

They're missing the majority of the ridership they could get by not passing through Uptown. Politicians over logic I guess.

There's no place to build light rail in uptown. The routes have been picked because they were easy to secure the right of way.

That's not why. The Greenway had already been secured as a possible LRT site. It wasn't chosen because it was more expensive. Low ridership projects (ridiculously low) suggested that the Uptown Transit Station would get roughly the same ridership as the stop in Kenwood. The Uptown route would have also taken a few extra minutes, and under the old funding formula the goal was getting people in the suburbs out of their cars, and the Uptown riders were thought to already ride public transportation and thus were already being served.
