Anyone who applies for a business license in Minneapolis should be required to watch the Floyd video and videos of the riots as part of the application process. There should be a notice explicitly stating "Law Enforcement Probably Won't Enforce Laws Protecting Your Business Property," and require would-be business owners to initial that they've read and understand that statement.

It could happen in any other state of the US. Do you think they have different laws and rules there, OP?

Insurance may not cover these types of rioting, hostile situations. Also, the time it takes to collect the insurance and rebuild, the business does not make money. And then the business owner will likely face higher insurance premiums as well they may not be able to afford.

Agreed. I keep hearing the "these businesses have insurance, they will be fine" line on social media but they really aren't taking into account that the business is basically down and not able to open and bring in any revenue while they are trying to rebuild. What a mess.

First and foremost, no windows facing the street, are windows really necessary in the first place?

If you're going to build something, do like they do in Mexico, everything in Mexico is built with heavy duty concrete, even the roofs. Only thing to burn is the contents.

Given that rioting is occurring in so many cities in the country, what happened in Minneapolis will eventually be overlooked.

Too many were ready to put a tombstone on Detroit, and see how well they've recovered over the last 10 years.

That's a fair point. But it DID happen in Minneapolis.

Open a book store. Those don't seem to be high on the looters Social Justice Shopping lists.

OP needs to keep up. By his logic he won’t be opening a business in any major US city now.

So far, the suburbs are looking safe from the criminal element.
