I am assuming non is really none. It is great living in the suburbs and not having to worry about freeway driving .

While I often take I-35W, I have to add "it's great to live in the city, and not have to worry about freeway driving, or even driving because of the availability of bus and biking options"

To the OP, so you don't find 94 to be considered one of the "main" freeways? I'd consider 94 to be #1. Depending on if I'm carpooling or not I could take none or I could take 494 and/or 35W....and it doesn't matter if I was living in the city or the suburbs...I'd still be using the same roads. Being in the city is nice though because it means I'm usually going opposite traffic.

I don't commute anymore. My wife takes I-394. We love that HOV/MnPASS lane.

94 is actually #2 in volume, second to 35W. 494 is #3. After those three there's a whole bunch really close to eachother. I was actually looking at some charts just last week.

Regarding the original topic, I love living in the city and not having to take the freeways. 12 minutes to school all on city streets. 8 minutes by car, 15 by bike to my job for the last few summers, again all on city streets. If my girlfriend didn't live in Plymouth, I would only have to take a freeway about once every six weeks or so, and it's against traffic 75% of the
time.

Given this, who's bright idea was it to shove the Hiawatha corridor down the taxpayer's throats if the concept of light rail was to provide mass transit? Would think that the ongoing 35W work to the South of DT Mpls would have also been an opportunity to incorporate a light rail into that construction as well. But no, there must be some other agenda other than to ease the freeway congestion. Perhaps the next link between Mpls and St Paul will ease the congestion caused by everyone who busses or drives between the two downtowns to and from their condo's.
