Considering moving to East Bethel
I have a job opportunity in East Bethel. I have done some research and it seems like a nice place to live. Any opinions out there?

Andover might be a better option - it is more of a suburb. East Bethel is kind of inbetween suburb and rural with ugly Hwy 65 as main street. No offense to E Bethel residents, but I lived up that way for 8 years and Andover is probably the nicest suburb in that area.

I think I would live in Cambridge instead.

East Bethel is nice enough. My wife's aunt and uncle have a 3 acre lot in a nice development there. East Bethel feels rather remote, though. I'd look at one of the closer 'burbs and then commute up to work. Andover is nice.
As a point of reference, I live in the southwest rung of the city (Eden Prairie) and it is 55 miles from my driveway to theirs. Generally, though, you'll make friends with people in the north of the city... East Bethel might still seem like a haul after a happy hour, though.

Trust me on this one. If you live in Minnesota, be sure you live as close as possible as you can to your work. I lived just north of Bethel and traveled to south minneapolis every day. Winter time can be awful when it takes you 4 hours to get home from work. Yes! Live close to your work. You will not regret this info and might keep your hair longer than I did.. ... Good Luck!!

It really depends what you want. If you want remote exurban large lots with privacy - then E. Bethel works fine. If you want a "nice" suburb with lots of kids and proximity to suburban type stuff (Target, Cub, other shopping, some restaurants, clinics, kids activities galore) then I would strongly recommend Andover. If you really want more access to the big city, then I'd consider certain parts of north MPLS or a closer in suburb like Fridley or Blaine but to be honest those northern suburbs don't have the best reputation. There are some decent areas in north Minneapolis near the river. I lived up that way for 8 years with a very young family - I like the southern suburbs better but I still think that Andover offers probably the closest thing to a nice, new suburban area with good schools and services.

Hwy 65 is not scenic, but there are great wooded lots in the Ham Lake/East Bethel area. Cambridge/Isanti would be a good option too. If you are working in East Bethel, there is no reason to move closer to the rat race over in the Andover area.
