Someday I like to move up to Minneapolis-St. Paul. What are some great neighborhoods to live in in Minneapolis or St. Paul. What neighborhoods are urban with good nightlife and shopping.

There are numerous threads already on the various neighborhoods in and around MSP, some of them quite detailed. You might start by searching the forums first, reading through some of the threads, and then pinpointing specific neighborhoods you have questions about.

Is their any neighborhoods in Minneapolis or St. Paul that have brownstones or rowhousing?

Personally I would stay out of the City proper. There's a lot of crime and trouble. I've been in St. Paul my whole life and it has worn me out. The politics of this City is extreme in one direction - you can guess what direction that is. Half of Chicago has moved in the Twin Cities in my lifetime as well, the vast majority just trouble and here for welfare.

They don’t matter to me. I live 1.5-2 hours from Chicago. At one time I really wanted to live in Chicago but it’s a little too fast paced even though I love visiting Chicago. I heard a lot of great things too about Twin Cities.

The crime rate in Minneapolis city proper has fallen over 1/3 from a peak in 2006. During that same time the population of people of non-European descent has grown greatly. Unfortunately, a lot of people are threatened by a growing non-white population and will equate that with rising crime so no matter what the actual numbers show us they cannot see the reality due to their racial anxieties.

The map enclosed in this article shows where the highest crime rates are in the city.
