I think U-Haul runs it. Many local movers are listed with prices and reviews from people that previously hired them.

I had wanted to use a "Pod" type of moving company for my move to Minnesota however I'm so rural where I was going that no one was going there. None of the Pod movers would work that out.

U-haul was the most reasonable "rental" I could find so I drove, but still used a local company to pack and load up the truck. Local companies are the most reasonable. Nation wide companies charge more because they need a cut and then sub-contract the local parts of it. (not always) but the ones in my price range did.

So look it over and decide what is best for you. Those moving help sites are normally linked to companies that use them but they can be helpful. Jersey to MN is a long drive and if you have a car you'll want to use a Dolly with the truck. That is what I did.

Is this a career move? Are you being offered re-location assistance? My company did however I had to foot the bill up-front and was re-imbersed. That kept me from having a large company do the move over all.

Another aspect to consider is this; are you moving directly into a house/apartment? If so you won't need storage, but in my case I was Hotel bound for a month before finding a place, so I had to move my stuff into storage. Moving companies will arrange for storage in this type of instance so you wouldn't need to care about local storage.

Our inital move was into an apartment (condo more) and we decided to keep our storage unit to help us keep organized. They are reasonable here. Once we moved into a house we did not need it and gave it up.

I used Bester Brothers for a local move. They were excellent and competative. I would suggest giving them a call. They may be able to help with a refrence in NJ.

Make sure you check out any mover at movingscam.com The moving industry is loaded with scam artists, and there are excellent state-by-state posts at movingscam discussing experiences with movers, good and bad.
