I am looking to move to the delta to teach (not greenville). I was wondering where would be the best place. I am leaning towards Tunica County, but I am not sure. Does anyone on here teach at any of the schools?

Kudos for trying to make a difference. Can't answer you question though. But go to MS Home Corp website and check out the HAT program. Great grant program fro teachers buying houses.

Tunica has a better local supplement because of the casinos. Its also closer to Memphis.

What exactly do you have in mind? The advantage of Tunica obviously is you can live in the outskirts of Memphis.

I began my teaching career in Phillips County, Arkansas, right across the river. For me it was an awesome experience.

Go to Tunica County. The public schools there are in dire need of help. Plus you get to experience an authentic Delta town, while being less than an hour outside of Memphis. You won't feel like you're that close to a big city, but it's good for the weekends. Plus Teach for America always places teachers further south into the Delta and Tunica gets glossed over.
