Yesterday, it was announced that Calisolar plans to bring nearly 1000 new jobs to Lowndes County; the company's new plant here will manufacture silicon for use in a wide range of high-tech applications. The jobs will average over $45,000 per year.

This new business is just the latest in a string of new industries that is shaping the Golden Triangle of NE Mississippi into one of the emerging high-tech meccas of the Southeast. Calisolar will join the state-of-the-art Severstal steel plant (and its related spinoffs), the new Paccar truck engine plant, American Eurocopter, Aurora Flight Sciences, and Stark Aerospace, all of which have located near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport. Don't be surprised to hear more upbeat business news in the near future!!

Congratulation, Okie, and all those in Lowndes county. We here in Tupelo could not be more pleased. Looks like all that money put into the airport area is going to pay off.

Today, Toyota announced that it has hired 90% of its employees from Mississippi, and 40% from Lee County.

Things are looking up...........................now, if we could just get some rain...

Seems like every state has a location that it refers to as "The Golden Triangle". Where's the Golden Triangle in MS? I've not heard of it before, although I'm a Mississippi resident and native.

Okay. I did a Google check, and it seems that it's the triangle formed by Columbus, Starkville and West Point, MS. - Lean something new everyday.

I graduated from MS State in Starkville, but never heard the term while there.

This is such good news. Only if MS could foster a heavier tech industry. Are all the jobs paying over $45k?
