To Outsiders/New Residents of Mississippi:
I wondered how are you enjoying the state of Mississippi. Is the lifestyle and environment different from more urban areas in the United States such as Chicago, IL, and is it hard to be adapted to the new environment ? If you are from Jackson, MS, I wondered are the neighborhoods similiar to other urban areas, such as Chicago, IL.
Have fun and faith in God.
I know that things will be better in the state of Mississippi in the future.

I'm not a MS native...I'm from a big city...the pace is slower...the traffic is nowhere near as bad as a big city (at least the part of MS I lived) I love it!!1

You're obviously very "interested" in the state of Mississippi.

That is one thing I noticed when I went through Mississippi. I was in Corinth eating at a Chinese restaurant. It didn't seem like much was going on.

There's only 3 million people in the entire state, so you can't really expect metropolises on par with Chicago, New York, etc. Your two options if you enjoy city life are Jackson and Gulfport-Biloxi. That's about it.

I don't live there, but I really thought the MS coastline was pretty, what I saw of it. Gulfport-Biloxi was great, looking good after Katrina. But I like the rural areas too, nice and quiet and damn fine scenery!

I live in Mississippi, middle of the state. I love it here....people here are so kind and would help you any way they can. Wholesome folks with morals and values...but you also get "bad" places to live in every state. Quiet here, slower paced life but NOT slower minded people. They're calling MS the "new retirement state"...I'd say so in a very good way. But there are things to do here, lots of history.

Mississippi doesn't look so bad compared to illinois in this study.
