Beau Rivage is open, the nicest casino in my opinion, they lure some good musical acts and they have an acrobatics performance called Imaginaya from Russia which might be worth checking out. Ship Island is open now, I saw jet skiis for rent this weekend but it was too chilly to get out in the water!

Sounds like you guys really take advantage of the coastal environment. I am not a fan of the water since I can't swim, but I do appreciate what others find thrilling and exciting.

Yeah the Beau, is nice.. a little over the top for me, but it has some awesome shopping and shows. And an Arcade for the kiddos.. Even though I dont think Casinos are a place for kids.. there are some casinos here that do have entertainment for them... mainly the Beau.

Hard Rock Casino is slated to be open By the end of June, so try to come out for July 4th, it should be a good show this year. Also The Treasur Bay casino should be all finished and fully opened by then too.

There are big plans for this part of the coast.. so keep us in mind if you need a cool vaction spot for you and your family.

The boat out to ship island is very safe.. you need not worry about it.. take the family out to see the old spanish fort spend a couple hours soaking up the sun and then head back.

GSO78 What the others have offered are some goood things to do and it is great to have folks interested in coming back to the Mississippi coast. However, you need to know that it is still a shadow of its former self and though making strides it still is spotty as far as stuff for children in my opinion. The casinos are great if is for adults. So if you really aren't aware of the extent of Katrina damage and you are counting on this as the big family trip, you may be better off-I hate to say this-going to Gulf Shores and that area

Man I couldn't watch anymore without feeling a sense of sadness and helplessness. It really doesn't hit you until you see the devastation for yourself. My Heart & prayers go out to the residents of the entire areas that were affected by Katrina.

Great video, it really puts it in perspective. What that vid does not show though is how far we have come since then.. Piers are being rebuilt, some completed, buildings being removed, and others built. Dont dispair, its coming back, bigger and better than before.. sometimes change is good. And I think this will end up being a blessing in disguise. Stay positive people.. we have a ways to go, but together we will get there.
