A few years ago a friend of mine from Willow Springs attended a Rainbow Gathering which is a temporary get-together of counterculture (hippies). I think it was held in a part of the Mark Twain National Forest, probably near Willow Springs or Cassville. I think they meet every year. Maybe this is what you have heard about? If it is held in a valley on Park Service land, the locals may call it Rainbow Valley.

Rainbow Valley, man,,, it exists in your head...

Ok, seriously, Rainbow Valley, per se, does NOT exist. However, if you are referring to Rainbow Gathering, that does occur - every year. Check out the following for more info:

Rainbow Gathering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now, if you are after a different kind of experience, maybe this?
