Correction: Rightest talking points don't make them any more real.

"Indoctrination"! That's so completely incorrect and nutzoid and crazy that it is straight out of the Tucker Carlson/Steve Bannon playbook.

Quoting again: Rep. Cody Smith, R-Carthage proposed a cut of $4.5 million in state aid to public libraries.

It is always poorly educated non-readers who get excited about what might or might not be in a book, and who cause this drama. But they're not likely to ever actually look inside the covers of any book at all to actually find out what's inside.

I always want to ask them: What book are you currently reading? What book titles do you have in your home? Their most likely answer is : "I don't read no books never and we don't have no books in our house. But we does gots tvs and videogame systems and the internets in every room of our house!"

And then they wonder why their children can't find decent jobs or get decent pay when they grow up.

Wow! Triggered much?

Care to explain the context of those proposals?
I would guess not. Leftist talking points are easier.

Funny, ha, ha.
I have actually spent more time in college classrooms than some doctors.

I am currently thinning out my own personal library, since I can't find anyone from this generation that is willing to learn anything real. Pity. Such a waste.

Those were a thing gone by, though.
Fifty years ago, I could find intelligent people on both sides.

No one wants to know the truth any more.
Children, even at 45 years old, would rather watch CNN and The View.

Sounds like the liberals that I have been trying to engage in a serious conversation, for about 4 years now. Can't get them to turn off the TV and games.

Come to think of it, maybe we don't need those libraries, any more.
A lot of them are just becoming daytime homeless shelters.
Convince me otherwise.

As someone from IL (like me) can tell you, those "high paying" jobs come with union dues and high taxes.

It's a rat race and a lot of the employers are leaving.

But, lest we let the Leftists pull us off topic, here is an update on the Library "defunding" bills.

From the original link:
Quote:
The debate over public library funding continued from the House Budget Committee to the floor. Last week, Smith proposed a cut of $4.5 million in state aid to public libraries.

Smith cited a lawsuit filed against the state by the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri on behalf of the Missouri Association of School Librarians and the Missouri Library Association as the reason for the cut.

The lawsuit seeks to overturn a state law passed last session that bans sexually explicit material from schools and has resulted in school districts pulling books from their shelves.

“I don't think we should subsidize that effort, so we're going to take out the funding,” Smith said.
So, the defunding is tied to the desire of the Library Association to put sexually explicit material in school libraries.

That won't happen because the jobs will mostly go to the urban counties and the wingnuts in the GOP-run legislature has no interest in promoting that. They won't garner many votes in Podunk for doing that.

Missouri is so backwards it is the laughing stock of the nation so, yeah, employers are looking elsewhere.

Only an idiot would allow themselves to be manipulated into believing that.

I have repeatedly asked posters like you to go into your library and find what you consider porn or sexually explicit material accessed by kids. No one can find any because it isn't there.

Libraries are not daycare centers. Librarians are not available to police your kids if you don't care enough to accompany them to the library.

No. You got it bass ackwards.
Employers are leaving IL, and going to places like MO.
You are the laughing stock.

Only an idiot would not read what the Leftists wrote about themselves, and then pretend that it is the Right spreading it as a rumor. Or is it just your goal to get the truth censored by getting this thread removed?

One more time for those too slow to understand:
The Library Association stated it was their goal to put sexually explicit material in school libraries.

The article linked in the opening post said so, and it was written by liberals.

TRex2, what libraries have you been to in the last 10 years? When was the last time? Have you, personally, looked at any of the so-called, "inappropriate," books? Which ones? Specifically, what was objectionable?

First, that is irrelevant (I have been in libraries, but I don't hang around in the children's section.
Second, we don't have much problem, here in the Redoubt Area.
Third, even the list provided by Granite Stater to "prove me wrong" contains several books that are inappropriate for school libraries, and were simply there for LGBTQxyz sexual indoctrination.

So, either cut out the "gotcha" line of questions, or don't expect any further response form me.
I am not here to be baited into playing silly games.

So, you have no idea. It isn't irrelevant. According to you and others, it should be easy to walk in and point out the books that are there for sexual indoctrination. Apparently not.

So you just want to impose your will on other communities?

You're saying you refuse to directly answer those questions which means my "gotcha questions" GOT YOU. But you use word salad with indignance like any losing debater on Fox.
