Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and I am in need of your expertise. My wife and I will be moving to the Billings area late this summer or early fall. My wife will be working in Billings and I am retired but will be looking for a part time or seasonal position. I would like to know how far out of Billings we would need to travel to find property that is in more of a mountainous setting. Something with trees, streams, lakes, etc. and less of the high prairie. We are moving from Northern Minnesota so cold and snow are not an issue for us. We have lived in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico so mountain driving and terrain are not an issue either. Is there anything fitting this along the Yellowstone or Clark Fork? We would like to keep the commute to something reasonable like 45 minutes to an hour. Preferably much less if possible.

Thanks much for your inputs!

Towards Red Lodge would put you into some fanatastic scenery. Absarokee is a little town about 1 hour from Billings and is one of my favorite little towns. Some of the best scenery in Montana, IMO.

You could also look at Roundup to the north.
The Bull Mountains have some very nice areas.

Red Lodge is a beautiful area, and to the west of Billings, you could look at small communities like Fishtail which is looking up at the Beartooth Mountains too, and not far from Absarokee.
