It can be fun being around the palm trees for awhile but I found the older I got the more I hated the heat. Oh, about the cockroaches, they always like to sit in your cereal boxes, too. It's like in Florida, they're just part of the natural environment. Everyone signs a contract with a bug specialist and they come over once a month and spray chemicals all over your floor. I have moose come by in my backyard in Montana from time to time but at least they stay out of my mini-wheats! Back to the weather, there's a saying about the two types of seasons in the desert; it's either hot or not so hot. Besides, wearing flip-flops and shorts all the time sure makes for a dull wardrobe.

Living in New Jersey my whole life, I can certainly agree with the comments on the humidity here on the East Coast. Although the past couple summers have been unusually cool (not very humid last summer), the past ten days or so have been very hot and humid. Even 80 or 85 degrees which isn't so bad becomes unbearable with high humidity. I work outside all summer and have a car with no air conditioning, so I know how uncomfortable it can get.

I personally like rainy and snowy weather (although it can get messy when it gets above 32 degrees) so I might have a hard time adjusting to the dryer weather out west. But I can only assume that the summers aren't so bad. I was in Colorado for a week over two years ago and loved it. Only problem was that I was extremely thirsty due to the dry air.

Default And cloud cover?

I read all these posts but no mention was made of cloud cover. I left Minnesota not because of the cold and snow (I miss it!) but due to the neverending cloud cover come winter.

So what's it like in winter up there? Days and days without a ray of sunshine?
