We live in a small town (7,000) in southeast Texas. We are wanting to move to the Flathead Valley area but we breed English Masitffs. They are inside dogs but they do have to go out to do their buisness... Dumb question but, is it safe to have short coated dogs in Montana winters? Also our dogs get AIed with frozen semen and have OFA tests done to see how their hips, knees ect... are so we don't breed dogs with hip displaysia. Can anyone recommend a vet that can do these things. Thanks for the help

can't help with the vet since I am on the other side of the state but my dachshunds have taken on to life here. Common sense, keep them moving, have a warm bed for them to jump into after being outside. I also have always used a "go" command and it helps with hesitations. Good luck, I am sure your dogs are quite beautiful.

They make coats for short haired dogs. I would not suggest the dogs stay outside for very long though.

I have looked for coats for them but they don't make them that big. I could use a human sweat shirt I guess:-)

I know what Mastiffs look like but where did they originate and what was their purpose? I imagine that they would be sturdy enough. The area you are looking at is beautiful. Good luck.

Hi I am Jarsmom, been on a bit of a hiatus from here. I am from Kalispell. I have a
little skinny weinerdog with very short hair named JarJar binks . He always went out
and peed for me even in the deadst of winter with only one or two exceptions. The
wind chill was about 60below during those times. All the rest of the time out he went
with no questions asked

Mastiffs were bred in England for guarding castles and helping in battles. They are great dogs! Thanks for the info
