It's a small town outside (South) of Helena. The hills around Montana City a riddled with subdivisions here and there, most of them quite nice. Property taxes are a lot less than neighboring Lewis and Clark County and every parent that I have talked to raves about the schools.

I currently rent a house in Montana City and wish there were a few more homes for sale around there. As it stands there is nothing that suits us in our price range.

Hello EyeforBeauty

Here are some of the listings for Montana City, the taxes should be listed in the information.
Montana City Real Estate & Montana City Homes For Sale — Trulia.com

I don't know if there are any churches in Montana City exactly, but the link below is for Helena which is only about 5 miles away.

Helena Churches Places Of Worship | Churches Places Of Worship in Helena, MT - YELLOWPAGES.COM

Lots of churches in Helena and there is a Methodist Church and a Catholic church in East Helena also about 5 miles from Montana City.

Montana City is basically a few small businesses (restaraunts, gas stations, bars, a hardware store) surrounded by housing developments. It is so close to Helena and East Helena that there is no real reason for a lot of churches or businesses to move there.

When founded, it was a mining camp, then it nearly died for many years, very few people actually lived there, then when people found out the Jefferson County taxes were substantially cheaper than Lewis and Clark county taxes, and they were still within just a few miles of work in Helena, the developments moved in and created basically a bedroom community.

It isn't really a large place, not a lot of amenities, but it does have a good elementary school and access to the highway.

Hi, Michelle,

You can also check out Clancy, MT, which is just a few miles south of Montana City.

Here is the web site of the Clancy school:
