A friend in Sandpoint, Idaho, routinely catches whoppers from the lake -- here she is with a small one!

Totally dwarfed by the most recent one she sent me pics of -- a Mackinaw that was 18 pounds and measured 38 inches long!! Said it took 35 minutes to get him into the boat. She had the meat smoked and the fish mounted to put on her office wall. Lotta fish both ways!! Here they are:

Here's something interesting for Irish genealogy:

Memorials

"The Transcripts included in this Database cover the period from the 1500s to the late 1800s. The present Database contains over 70,000 entries covering an extensive list of Graveyards across Ireland..."

Oh what great fish pictures Unfortunately the competition didn't go our way this year and the local team from South Wales won. We can't complain though, in the last 10 years we have had two 2nd places and one 1st, not bad for a land locked county, I know, I know, land locked in the UK means you are more than 60 miles from the sea, nothing compared to the US, but we have small island mentality and anything more than a 2 hour drive is a major expedition

Didn't get to hear any choirs in Wales but I did take a few pictures for you to have a look at, Cardiff was originally settled by the Romans and the name means 'Fort on the river Taff' it then became a Norman English town and later a Scottish family called Bute bought all the land and when coal was discovered they made a small fortune, it is they who are responsible for all the ornate decoration inside the castle.

Picasa Web Albums - davidruthcraine - Cardiff

Oh and talking fish, here is a picture of my husband taken earlier this year with a 55lb Tope caught in the Irish Sea just off North Wales.

So nice to hear from you! Glad your trip went well. Since I have some distant roots there perhaps I am a niece of a "Roman?"
My dad sure had the nose of one.
Great photos!! Thanks for sharing.

As the old line goes,
"In England, they think 200 miles is a long way.
In America, they think 200 years is a long time."

How true!

I don't know what's with Picassaweb but it always whines at me "Connection refused", so I can't see anything there

I'm a Roman at heart, specifically a Roman Briton -- which probably goes right along with being part Welsh It is my favourite historical period.

seven of nine - Sometimes I think I was born 2000 years to late, I've always fancied the idea of living in a grand Roman villa, and more than anything I would have liked to have been in Rome whilst the Colosseum was being built.

Reziac - Love the quote

So what is going on with Picassa albums the link seemed to work for seven of nine OK, can you access Photobucket ?, I'll try uploading the pictures there over the next couple of days, and let you know when there're done.

The Tope is a breed of shark, and yes it did get a bit tetchy, I gave up fishing when something a little bigger than that tried to drag me off the back of the boat Conger Eels are the worst when you get them on deck they try to bite your ankles, well they try to bite anything actually, not the nicest of personalities.

This thread has gone from Big Timber to Spain and back with a fishing trip thrown in somewhere and I'm determined to post a relevant pic so at least one of these should do.

A big Mac.

An old grave.

Now to finally go back on topic, the main drag in Big Timber.
