Awwe don't feel at all offended..It's that attitude that many living in Montreal have been projectining for decades..Course That will not be helpful in tourism nor finding the best and the brightest in business, huh?..Bilingual communications has always been part and parcel ..BUT to actually be so bold to suggest..Unless you speak French you aren't welcome is beyond the pale!!
Rude..and hey..wait till you hear how the francophones swear..It's actually funny..They swear in English..BUT if Anglophone swears in french..IT's fighting words..It's been like that since the mid 60's..and won't change..
If you can work there inside of a bubble with same minded folks..it's not a problem....I moved there in 1964..and young enough to learn the Patois ..local french..and actually understood it within a year or so....FYI Patois is actually english using a french accent with a twist of aberrant Parisian...There are many dialects of french throughout Canada..
