I know this is probably a long shot, but does anyone here have any information or leads about TESL on the south shore or Montreal?

My French is low-beginner at the moment (I am working on it hard though). I am qualified to teach at an entry-level position (Bachelor's degree- thematic option in TESL, TESL certificate, TESL Canada professional level II) and some volunteer/practicum experience.

Any tips? Ideas? Hints? So far, all positions I have found are bilingual. Understandable and I am working hard at becoming bilingual, but any leads will help. I am very open to volunteer experience too.

Thanks

Some cegeps offer free English lessons to new immigrants. Don't have any details though.

Hi Aliss - have you tried the English language schools ?

I would have thought you only need to be bilingual if you are teaching children at elementary or secondary level in schools (where every now and then you may be required to explain something to them in French - at beginner level any way).

The language schools only use English as the language of instruction (well this is the case in the UK any way).

I'm afraid I don't know enough about Quebec, but I would knock on the door of every language school in town, good luck, let us know how you get on ; )

@aliss
A private tutorial school that runs study camps for immigrants at 3 locations near Du-college, Charlevoix and St-Hubert (they rent classrooms from l'ecole Mgr.A.M.Parent), is currently seeking a bilingual administrator and an English or French animateur for their summer camp. Not exactly the position that you want, but you can find out more at your end.
