Are there any (chain) stores that display signs in French only in Montreal area and Quebec in general?
I know that packages and federal buildings/signs are bilingual, but what about store signs?

As an American even though I only speak few words of French I would love Quebec being only French so I could improve my French even more, that'a why many of us choose Quebec as a destination than rest of English Canada. It sucks seeing English signs to be honest...

Come to Quebec and your wish for French only signs will be granted in spades,in no time at all you'll be fluently French and probably be calling for Quebec separation, looks like you've already got the English sucks attitude. This should make you happy.=http://www.montrealgazette.com/life/...253/story.html
Rather curious that some one from the USA who speaks no French would start a topic in the Montreal section stating that English sucks and life would be better if everything was in French... what word am i looking for?

Well, it may go against the sensitivities of you and the local anglo community, but some people don't want every single place they travel to be exactly like home. For some people it's the exact opposite - they want it to be as different as possible.

I agree to some extent but a few points in the op's thread make me wonder if the point of the topic is merely to stir up linguistic tensions.

Go off the island and yes, you will go months without hearing or reading English

If so, ever wonder why so many Americans and people from other countries come on here and say things meant to deliberately provoke Anglo-Quebec sensitivities?

Such nonsense! All of these people who post to say that everything here should be in French and there should be no English are not American. I lived in the States for a long time. I have hundreds of American friends. The ones who had visited here all said how much they loved it. Those who hadn't visited said they wanted to. Not one of them expressed any desire to have only French -- it would never have occurred to them. They love the cultural aspects of it, but the language issue is not something that even enters their minds.

The posters who write this stuff -- and I say this because Jambo won't use the "T" word -- are Canadians, most likely Quebecers, who are coming here to stir the pot.

Pointe finale. (Did I write that in proper French?)

I don't think any harm is meant - but I do think sometimes Quebec is viewed as a cute little affordable travel throwback alternative to pricey flights and buying bottled water in French restaurants.

I'm talking about reading (signs). Obviously Montreal is very touristy and diverse.

Well Quebec is 3x larger than France. France is France, Quebec is Quebec.
A major draw to Quebec is the French language for sure.
