Sounds like the profits must've been good. Must've been an issue with whoever was running it.
I've always enjoyed Saladworks.
The owner (I believe or head manager) posted in a morgantown group that it was because they were missing their sales goals but who knows if that is the whole truth. I’d eat there more if they would just get a good ranch (like long horn or outbacks ranch).
The best restaurant ranch locally is Casa D Amici .
Re Salad Works , the sign is down at the original site so I doubt it's going to reopen at STC .
Rumor- look for it to open next to Campus Canteen downtown. ( not confirmed ) .
That will be a nice asset to that area. I am surprised this hasn't been done sooner.
This reminds me of something, but I can't remember all of the details. Maybe another poster does. In the late 90's or early 2000's there was a big controversy in this area when legalizing gambling machines as people feared this would lead to riverboat gambling here.

I wouldn't be opposed to riverboat gambling, or to a small floating casino, but I would definitely not favor a full scale casino or dog track for Morgantown. I've seen the sort of problems that come with having one of those operations around.
While I’d like a small riverboat casino, maybe trips occasionally on Saturday’s to Pittsburgh’s casino via the river boat would be fun, could go up for a baseball game and or casino.

I was gonna say earlier, why not have cruises up to Pittsburgh? who the heck cares about a Morgantown to Fairmont cruise? but Morgantown to Pittsburgh would certainly be popular......

Hmmm. We've had a dog track that later added a Casino just outside Charleston for many, many years. It's been an economic plus, with no particular negatives. It hasn't created an area of criminal activity. It has created quite a few jobs that are better than working at MacDonald's. They bring busloads of people to the place. Those people spend a LOT of money on rooms, food, keepsakes, and yes, gambling.
We've also had a few riverboats operate in the area, although without any gambling. None of them actually had a business succeed for more than just a few years.
