Television memorabilia enthusiasts are going to be salivating over this one -- the 1949 Triumph Trophy TR5 ridden by The Fonz (a.k.a. Henry Winkler) in "Happy Days" is up for auction, and could fetch more than $90,000.
Yeah, I saw that mentioned in the motorcycle magazines I subscribe to. If I had $90K to blow on a bike, I'd spend it on several new ones. Or a couple or three bikes and a new car. I mean, The Fonz was cool and all that, but...
1) Fonzie was incapable of riding the bike without causing damage. The solution was to mount the bike on a wood board on wheels. The board (with the bike), had to be pulled by rope towards the camera.
That being said, the sales of bikes and leather jackets skyrocketed following the show.
2) On a different note, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys popularized surfing all over the world, but hated the beach, the ocean and couldn't swim.

I heard that too. Henry Winkler evidently didn't learn how to ride a motorcycle until long after the show wrapped. Kind of funny if you think about.

At first he tried and crashed the bike into the camera, injuring several people. Next time was a little better, but still ended in a bike needing repair. The studio folks were concerned with the insurance and that's when the wood board solution came into play.
Everything in life is just perception.
All in all, I'd rather have Brando's bike from "The Wild Ones."
If I had that kind of money to throw around.
