I do this, watch movies when I am in a certain mood.
The two I would most consider "go-to" are Enchanted April, which brings light and beauty into my life on rainy, snowy or gloomy days, and Local Hero, when I am down - it never fails to make everything all better, at least for a little while.
A few others that I watch based on mood are Shirley Valentine, Murphy's Romance, Starman, Something's Gotta Give and the mini-series of Pride and Prejudice.

I think you are the only other person that watches Murphy's Romance other than me. I adore that movie. And even though I cannot STAND Keaton's acting in "Something's Gotta Give".....and also in "First Wives Club", I will watch that movie every time it's on tv.
Sometimes that shark he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces.
One of my favorite things about movies is that they can be cleansing. They help us work through the hard times and celebrate the good things. While we can cry at a movie, sometimes, a particular movie will cry with us. I have a friend who describes watching movies according to our current emotions as "mood movies."
So, what's your mood movie? When you feel really happy, what's your Go-To movie to watch? How about when you're sad? When you need a good cry? When you're really angry? We may not have a Go-To movie for every emotion, but what's your most common Go-To movie and why?
When I feel down and like I want a fresh start in life again, I have a go-to movie that really picks me up and encourages me. For me, that movie is Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Lane. (I also relate to it because she's a writer and so am I.)
It's a rollercoaster of emotions and a great reminder that life can change, for better or for worse, in one moment. No warning, no signs, just WHAM! I watch it to remember that my current situation isn't forever, no matter how much it appears to be. It's a reminder that I've experienced how suddenly things can change and turn around. This is my main Go-To movie and I've seen it dozens of times. (The scenery and the food are therapeutic, too!)
