Default Lighten up!

My sister (born in the 50s) and I (born in the 60s) just came back from it, and the theater was filled with people in their 40s, 50s, 60s, even 70s, so I wouldn't say "teeny boppers" have anything to do with it. It's an R-rated movie, which excludes teeny boppers anyway.

I don't see the point in being uptight or snotty about it. It's supposed to be a good time, and it is. Lots of funny moments, not to be taken seriously. If you don't want to go, don't go. Me, I was happy to get not only my "Alcide" fix, but my "Eric Delko" fix, as well.

I mean 'into' them like these are their preferred movie type or they actually think these kinds of movies are good. You know what I am talking about. The women/teenies who will see a movie more because of which 'hunky' yum yum is in it...rather than picking movies based on what actually appears imaginative, intellectually stimulating, intelligently funny, etc.

Going to something like this once in a while because it looks funny or because it's a phenomenon, etc, is one thing.

I think you know what I mean.

And if you read the rest of the thread, a bunch of us DID go just for the fun part of it. But we were pretty surprised to find a movie of more substance than we were expecting. Unlike the people who were disappointed it wasn't a 2 hour long dance porno flick.

However, overall, I would give the movie 2.5/5 stars. And it's rewatchability is very low.

Sure, I get it.

How's this for "into" a movie: During the previews, they showed one for the forthcoming Katy Perry movie. My sister and I were cracking up with self-righteous mockery. These two women a few seats over got all offended and moved their seats! Give me a break. If you can't handle someone laughing during the previews, perhaps you shouldn't be seeing a movie like Magic Mike in the first place. I can just imagine them huffing and puffing with indignation all the way home over seeing naked male butt.

As one of my girlfriends said, "What were they expecting? A Merchant Ivory production?"

That's not a fix, it's a tease! Which I suppose is quite befitting considering it's a strip tease movie. But damn could have at least given him a little more air time. Tatem is sexy, yes... But Joe is... lol

The "Kid" was a let down.

Forgive me for being just an old horndog and wanting just to see them shake what their mama gave them. There were many funny moments, but also lots of sex, vulgarity, (unlike my classy self,) drugs, but substance, nah maybe a smidget. I was like substance, wait for it, wait for it, I'm sure it's coming. All I can say, is now I know how some guys feel when they are teased. Just when the dancing got good, wham cut to another scene. What the hey. I deserved that, my heart probably might have given out with much more bun shaken.

They think they are being cute constantly posting about it but they are actually being quite annoying. It looks like Show Girls for women.
I think that is the whole point. See what insecure men they can annoy, the ladies do it at my job office as well. Here in Chicago we dont have male strip clubs they kinda come and go like he circus. Ive seen videos of the things women do at these events. Some things are downright pornographic. Movie should be in good fun though.

I thought it was kind of a downer. I've seen male strippers in New Orleans and they aren't as clean or as handsome as the actors. They also didn't dance, just bump-and-grind. Channing did a good job of dancing, MM looks a little old.

I went to see it because my girls want to see it and since I made them watch Phantom of the Opera with me in May I owed them one.

Since I could be happy just watching Channing Tatum breathe I especially liked watching him dance
