Trying to remember the name of an 80's teen movie. Let me see if I can remember the plot...

Teenage kid. I think he was kicked out of boarding school and sent back to D.C. where his father is a senator or something. His mom is the typical politician's wife, overbearing and controlling. He meets a girl and I seem to remember a scene at night where he's teaching her how to ski using the steps of the capitol building? And I remember another scene where they've been caught in the rain so they go back to his place and get caught in the shower by his mother wearing monster masks.

Is this familiar to anyone? Anyone know the name of the film or who starred in it? It's driving me nuts!

I liked that movie! It's Morgan Stewart's Coming Home!

Morgan Stewart's Coming Home (1987) - IMDb

It starred John Cryer, who was Duckie in Pretty in Pink! I remember liking his character in that movie, because he was quirky and loved old horror movies. The girl, Viveka something, was cute, but I never saw her in anything else. Lynn Redgrave played the mom, hiding her British accent.
