Horror movies don't usually scare me anymore, but that definitely had me on my toes when I saw it for the first time last year. I agree the Technicolor made it seem even more creepy than it was.

The Marx brothers are great. Their movies are evergreen. Well worth watching. Everyone should at least try one their films to see why they have been so popular for so long.
