"The Getaway" What The Heck ??
Has anyone seen it? The local Drive in is closing this week for the season so I had to go one last time. The second movie was great and everything a Summer time popcorn movie should be, "Pacific Rim".
Back to "The Getaway" I think the only thing they got away with was my money to see it. I mean at the end I said WTH did I just see a 1 hour 25 minute commercial for a FORD Mustang?? I don't get Ethan Hawke as a hero and Selena Gomez looked all of 16 but somehow she is a gun toting computer genius and a muscle car enthusiast and tuner in Bulgaria??
I don't want to ruin it for anyone but seriously? It was probably the longest car chase crash em up like matchbox cars movie ever.
All I can say is "WEAK" and I'm a FORD fan.
Has anyone else seen this mess and what did you think?
If you want to see a good movie, see the original version of "The Getaway" (1972) , with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw. It was re-made in 1994 with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. I haven't seen that version.
Pulling from another thread about the misplacement of RAP music in movies, this one didn't have any and if it did I didn't notice it. Rap music would have been much more appropriate in a movie like this with all the fast paced smash em up fast car action but instead they played Christmas music?
Oh yeah why would they make a Summer time type of movie and set it around Christmas that didn't have anything to do with it at all?
Oh yeah the characters blow up the power station to turn off the security at the bank, the city goes black but then 2 scenes later while they are driving to the bank all the lights are on in the city??
"Getaway" is one of the lowest (5th lowest?) rated/reviewed films of 2013 on Rotten Tomatoes so far.
