I liked him! He was the first Bond I saw, and he fit the role just fine. Craig looks like a good enough actor, but not what I think of as Bond.

Huh. Forgive me, but I thought that was part of the Bond schtick. Certainly there was a lot of all that in Goldfinger and From Russia With Love, which are (I think) the only non-Brosnan Bond films I've seen.

That he was and he was the original Bond. I just get a kick out of Daniel, I like him.

I disagree.

Brosnan was as good as ANY of the Bond actors. He has the suave, debonair attitude and the looks and charm. Besides, it's the great stories, the evil villains, the great lines, and the cool high-tech toys that make the whole Bond franchise.

Timothy Dalton also could have been the permanent Bond and the series would have done as well as it did after he left.

At first I didn't like Dan Craig so much, thinking he was not classy enough and too rough-hewn to make a classic Bond. But I have since changed my mind, deciding he is in fact perfect for the Bond of the New Millennium. He fits with all the other personnel changes. Although, I'm still not so sure on Ben Wishaw as Q. I mean, he's a talented actor, but.....

What you quoted me on was about Roger Moore being Bond for longer.

He SUCKED.

Sean Connery was the best Bond. By far.

Daniel Craig was pretty good.

Roger Moore was fair.

Pierce Brosnan is too feminine for me.

Best Bond? Terence Cooper, hands down.....though I would have loved to see Michael Billington in the part.

What if Pierce Brosnan had starred in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall instead of Daniel Craig?

My opinion was the they would still be decent, but not as good. Daniel Craig is a better Bond.
It wasn't that Daniel Craig happened.....it was that the reboot happened.

Suddenly, 40 years of movies was wiped out. Suddenly, an experienced officer from the Royal Navy was acting like a child in the candy store. Suddenly, the story we had grown up with was taken away from us. Suddenly, themes we had seen before were showing up in Bond.

...................or did you miss that part about Bond and Vesper on the sailboat accessing computer accounts of terrorist being exactly the same as Nikita and Michael being on the run from Section One?

Long story short, something I learned very early in sci fi writing.................DON'T PERTURB THE AUDIENCE! If you pi** them off, they are very often very hard to get back.

Bond changed at Casino Royale and not for the better. He was no longer Bond....he was a THUG!

And as such, I haven't bothered with a Bond flick since then.

Sean Connery was the best actor and the best Bond in my opinion. I thought Pierce Brosnan was a bad choice but he worked out pretty good. Daniel Craig IMO was a huge mistake though he may eventually grow on us. Definitely, in no way fits the Bond image. The franchise would be better off if Brosnan were still Bond. IMO.

George Lazenby was the worst Bond.

Only an Englishman should play James Bond. Brosnan is American-Irish and was to nice, except for a few moments in Goldeneye, to play Bond. Connery was probably the best. My favorite is Roger Moore. He brought a little levity to the role.

Roger Moore said he played Bond tongue in cheek because of the absurdity of it. That is, how good of a secret agent can you be when every bartender in the world recognizes you, knows what you drink.

I accepted that for a long while until one of my many passes through "The Living Daylights". The desk clerk recognizes him on sight, calls him by name, ................

............................BUT WHAT DOES HE KNOW JAMES BOND AS? A spy? An adventurer? A Playboy?

Day to day, we the audience know what Bond is, but who do they know him as in the movie.....especially since in so many covers where he still uses his "real name"?

Now granted, someone ought to be able to soon figure out that when things blow up in town, the presence of this guy "James Bond" was bound to be connected.

But that's the fantasy of a Bond movie, connections like that are never made. It's a fantasy...............

............................which makes me laugh at some of the errors of the movies people point out. Such as the chopmaster attack of the helicopter in "Tomorrow Never Dies" where it has the nose tilted down, the blades at an angle in front of it, and it proceeds to move forward, chopping everything in its path.

Error sayer : "It is impossible for a helicopter to fly like that."

Me: "WHAT? You think James Bond is a reality and not a fantasy?"
