A close tie between "The Breakfast Club" and "Uncle Buck."

As writer, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

As producer, "The Breakfast Club."

As director, "Ferris."

I think most of them from the '80s are terrific.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB is a great story marred by really bad music. Inexcusably bad. There were lots of movies in the '80s with much lower budgets that had much better music than THE BREAKFAST CLUB. It's a movie about teenagers with an entire musical dance sequence, and the music is cingingly horrible. There's just no good reason for that. Hughes should have known better.

1. 16 Candles (So cheesy but in a good way.)
2. Some Kind of Wonderful (The superior version of...)
3. Pretty in Pink

I also love directors who put some thought into the soundtrack.

Honorable Mentions:
Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller

I like some other John Hughes movies a little better overall, but the ending to Uncle Buck is really special. The end scene where he waves to his niece always gives me a warm feeling when I see it.

Planes. Trains, and Automobiles! I've seen it hundreds of times and I will watch it hundreds more. I just don't ever get tired of it and can quote every line. I love most John Hughes films. The Breakfast Club. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, Uncle Buck, and the Vacation series were gems too and some of my favorite films from my youth. I was so fortunate to grow up watching his films in the 80s and there was nothing like them when they were new.
