Heres one for the oldies. Looking for movie title, I saw the movie at school in the early 50's I remember it as "A cow called Daisy" British Movie set in WWII, group of British Commandos go to German occupied Jersey. To rescue a cow, yes a cow. I think the idea was to preserve Jersey Milk. May not be regular movie as it was shown by the school. Thanks in advance

Good find, Lost Roses:

Island Rescue (1951)
"The Germans invade the British-owned Channel island of Amorel on July 10, 1940, and though strategically unimportant, the occupation causes great consternation to the Ministry of Agriculture. The small island is the home of "Venus", a prize cow "with a pedigree as noble as the Kings of Ireland - a triumph of breeding." Plus, "Venus" is in calf - by "Mars of Mellowbury III", a champion bull - and the crossing of "Venus" and "Mars" is of enormous financial and breeding potential, horoscopes aside. The Ministry approaches the War Office, where "Venus" becomes the concern of the Armed Forces of the Crown. Major Valentine Moreland and his crew, A.T.S. Nicola Fallaize, radio operator Forbes and Trawler Langley, are assigned the task of quietly re-invading Amorel and bringing "Venus" to England. The simple plan of keeping the cow in hiding until a British destroyer arrives to pick her up is complicated when Commander Weiss, the German garrison commander, learns of the cow's value, and intends to send her to Germany in an E-Boat which is scheduled to be in the harbor the same day as the British ship."

If they made it today they would feel compelled to twist the plot around so that whichever side wound up with the cow, would also win the war. There would be an action hero type who stands off a platoon of Germans all by himself while the cow is spirited to safety.

Of course if they had made it in the '70's it probably would have been a Russ Meyer flick and would have featured an invasion of the island by the females of Hitler's elite D-Cup Battalion.

If made today, it would be a comedy staring Rob Schneider or Pauley Shore.

I'd like to say about the film "The bridge is too far" (1977). The movie tells about the Allied Forces offensive in the West Europe in 1944.

There are a lot of real war technique in the movie and no computer effects. The soundtrack is beautiful too. The movie consists of two series.

The title is A Bridge Too Far and it was directed by the late Sir Richard Attenborough.
