Boy,The Conjuring was great, haven't watched Insidious yet,and I already know that I love The Skeleton Key.I was really surprised by how many 'jumps' were in the '2009-Uninvited' since it was on the syfy channel, part of their 31 days of Halloween run,but syfy does have some good stuff.... very occasionally, haha.
I celebrated Halloween in a major way with this lineup:
October 28:
Dracula~Prince of Darkness
Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
Dead of Night (1945)
Twice-Told Tales
Kwaidan
October 29:
The House That Dripped Blood
Torture Garden
Psycho (1960 of course!)(remake: zero!)
Diabolique
October 30:
House on Haunted Hill (1959) (not the rancid remake)
The Legend of Hell House
13 Ghosts (1960) (not the el stinko remake)
The Innocents
The Cabinet of Caligari (1962)
October 31:
The Innocents
The Haunting (1963) (only good thing about remake: the house)
Burnt Offerings
Dracula (1931)
Curse of the Demon aka Night of the Demon
House of Wax (1953) (another with a worthless remake~Paris Hilton?! ICK!) NOTE: The original, "Mystery of the Wax Museum", is worth watching!
Poltergeist
I also watched a bunch of episodes of "One Step Beyond" the evening of Oct. 31.
Now, THAT was a great Halloween celebration! Who needs parties, costumes and candy?! We have cats, so we don't put on lights for trick-or-treating. Besides, why should my mom and I, who live on small pensions, buy a bunch of candy for children who likely get candy every day of the year?! We don't even buy it for ourselves!
