Twitter users responded to the Oscar nominations’ lack of any black or minority ethnic actors being given a nod by the Academy with the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.
Most of the posts made fun of the Academy, characterising the awards show as a clueless white friend who makes racially insensitive comments.

I take it the Oscars have nominated something towards an equal number of men and women, in specific categories. The others being not sexually specific.
Oh, for crying out loud! There have been 3 black WINNERS within the last 5 years: Monique, Octavia Spencer, Lupita Nyongo. Not to mention last year's best picture winner was a movie about a black slave.
The problem I see is that best picture can have 10 nominations, the others can only have five. Also if you didn't expect the best actor ina leading role nominees you got, you dont really follow film because at least four out of five movies were Oscarbait performances (the only unexpected one was Bradley Cooper in American Sniper) as were most of the best actress in a leading role.
It is so depressing to see so much criticism regarding the makeup of this year's acting Oscars nominees. Unless one can show that Oscars voters are racists who are out to ensure that minorities aren't nominated in the acting categories, then all I care about is whether those who are nominated deserved to be nominated, which I understand is subjective. Period. I'm not on the political correctness trip where the Academy has to go out of its way to nominate non-white actors to "prove they're not racist." At the end of the day, there are a limited number of nominees allowed and a whole lot of deserving actors/actresses who are always left out. I'm tired of this racism.
People need to realize that we're not going to have a perfect mix of diversity with the Oscars every year. Diversity with the Oscars seems to vary year by year.
