Haven't seen it yet. I thought the television series was okay, though I'm not really much of a Bruce Willis fan.

I thought it was fantastic. Not sure it was strong enough to win over Manchester, but really good.

Spoiler
Mahershala was by far my favorite part of the movie, too bad he wasn't in it longer.

I have not seen it yet, but it is very intersting to me just how mixed the reviews are.

Great movie. Well deserving of the Academy Award for best picture.

I agree. I really thought La La Land was going to get it, but happy this won.

I thought the story was told in an unassuming, subtle and creative way. There was no agenda other than to tell a story about these few people. I loved it.

99% of the time when critics loves and raves about a movie, for me, it means.............AVOID AT ALL COST. The 1% is because it is an action movie and for some odd reason, critics likes it.

Default aka: Brokeback Beach

Just watched it via Netflix DVD last night. I came away thinking that it won the Oscar for best picture, because Brokeback Mountain didn't. Not that I saw BBM. I avoided watching it because the nature of the movie was hyped a lot before I had the first chance to see it. I wish someone had posted the true nature of the movie here before we sent for it. I might have still watched it eventually, when it is on cable and had nothing more I wanted to watch.

What I had heard beforehand was it is a movie about a young Black man growing up in Liberty City and, since I lived in the Miami are for a few years before the Liberty City riots(in the 80s) I wanted to see their take on it.

There are no heroes in this movie. The older man gives help and direction to a young man without a father. The older man is a drug dealer, however. When the young man points out to him the he is a drug dealer, the old man shrugs, and keeps doing his thing. It's no surprise that the main character goes on to become a drug dealer.
