I've seen A Royal Affair. I'll look into the other one for Schoenaerts. Thanks!

What I mean by significant roles in significant movies are roles and movies that will make these actors and actresses successful where you will continue to see them in movies in years to come. And I'm not necessarily talking about movies that have to gross 400 million dollars locally and 1 billion dollars internationally, but successful enough to keep the actor or actress working and playing good leading or supporting roles in movies.

Marion Cotillard easily takes the cake imo. She's so naturally talented and engaging, never disappoints.

I love Amy Adams as well. Sally Hawkins too.

Cate Blanchett is awesome but she's been around for a long time so I wouldn't say that she's new.

I agree. And I even liked her in the much maligned box-office bomb, Allied.

Actually, in my title and my OP, I said newer or relatively newer actors and actresses. Plus, I had to have a cut-off point so I picked within the last 20 years. And depending on one's age and one's perspective, 20 years isn't really that long of a time compared to actors and actresses who have been around for 30, 40, and 50 years or longer.

And don't forget The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - IMDb, which imdb originally spoiled and ruined the movie for me because originally...

Spoiler
they had her listed as playing Miranda/Talia al Ghul...

but now they have her only listed as playing Miranda.
