Godzilla vs. Kong should be titled Rehoming Kong – featuring Godzilla.

For starters, this movie's too short. When I glimpsed the runtime, I thought something was wrong. Then I realized the 1 hour, 53 minutes included the opening and end titles. This movie needed at least another 25 minutes to flesh out some things and add more tension.

They didn't have a bad concept for the film. That's not it. The first act was rushed, and the human drama was not up to par. And the little, uh, threesome, all they did was soak up screen time like a sponge. Mr. guy-with-a-podcast was there expressly for MCU-style comic relief, and he was terrible. His dialogue was distractingly bad. So was the Brit kid's. And they somehow got much too far into heavily secured areas with nary a problem, just like those spy whiz kids in the '70s.

Some of the CGI was noticeably lacking in places.

Other problems I had anticipated:

Spoiler
Kong using tall buildings like trees to leap off, and the buildings weren't collapsing from the sheer pressure of his weight.

The Mechagodzilla reveal was one of the film's highlights, but they should have used him for more than just a test and the climactic battle. He was indeed a terrible freakish force, essentially Godzilla's Doomsday.

I liked the "Hollow Earth/Lost World" segment, and its monsters, but it more or less needs its own movie to be appreciated.

There was one thing they did right:

Spoiler
Godzilla does beat Kong.
I agree. I enjoyed the other films in this series. But this one was simply bad. Good graphics and everything but I’m not watching something for good graphics alone.

I had the same problem watching it on HBO Max. The problem is with the audio mastering. For some reason, the podcast guy's dialogue always came in loud and clear. I think we got punk'd!

They had her for the eye candy but her character was pointless. As were the stranger kid, deadpool kid and the Atlanta Guy..there story arc was beyond stupid. These 3 are just walking around a major Tech company with no security cameras seeing them.

Looks like we could get very well get another one. If so, I hope it's a lot better.

Heck, just give me two hours' worth of battles if the human drama's going to be meh.
