Of course she did. WTH is there in the story to presume otherwise?

I guess I don't think a person should be allowed to use people, just because they have had bad past experiences. It's not a license to use and manipulate, and felt if that was the case, why was I suppose to have empathy for her, if she is just use and manipulate as a result. Plus since we are not allowed to judge movie characters? We do that all the time, and judge characters for whenever they wrong other characters. Are we not allowed to judge characters in fiction anymore?
Jenny loved Forrest, he was the only good spot of light in her whole miserable world except her son. There would be no finer person to leave their son with than his father, Forrest; once she knew she was going to die. She knew what kind of good loving life they would have together. There is no using. There is maybe doing the right thing by the two people you love most in the world.

I think maybe what Ironpony is grappling with is the concept of love between a man and a woman that isn't reciprocally romantic? if not that I really don't understand the confusion, the story made sense to me the first go around.

Oh I just didn't understand that if Jenny was lying about how she feels, and was putting on a facade, then why did they give the climax such a happy Cinderella like tone if it was a facade and not real, that's all.

You seem to treat the situation like she married him for his money. Marrying him so he and his son can have a father son relationship vs the kid ending up in foster care is hardly "using" him. Forrest understood and accepted why she married him, he was not fooled by some fake act.

If he was not fooled then, and he understood that the marriage was necessity, then why was it treated as more than necessity then? Why have the happy wedding with the happy music if it was just done out of necessity, and he knew it?

Because Forrest's dream of marrying the love of his life was being celebrated. It became a reality out of necessity. Jenny was never in love with Forrest, but she loved him.
Gosh, this really isn't rocket science.

Because the movie is about Forrest Gump, and also about the social movements in the U.S. during and after the Vietnam War. Jenny is not meant to be the main character. But she represents these social movements. She is meant to represent the destructiveness and tragedy of much of that time, including the awful toll of AIDS deaths.

Forrest represents the essential goodness of us all. He must remain untouched by Jenny’s tragedy. But she is redeemed by entrusting her son to him.

Hope this helps. I loved that movie.

I thought of Hildegarde of Bingen and The Feather On The Breath of God in the closing credits.

Yes but I feel there is something that is being avoided in my question that I do not understand. Why is Forrest happy about it, if she is doing it out of necessity?

The why is the most important. Why is he happy, if she is doing it out of necessity, rather than loving him back? Why is it still worth it to him?

Why didn't Forrest say, that he didn't want to marry her cause he knew it is out of necessity, and she didn't love him enough for it, but it's okay, I still take care of our son anyway? Why was the wedding so important to him, if she was just doing it out of necessity?

Seriously? Forrest has an IQ of 70. He loves Jenny. He loves their son. Jenny wants to marry him. This makes him happy.
