This summer's release of Ari Aster's (Hereditary) sophomore effort, Midsommar, is being preceded by rave reviews and (like its predecessor) controversy. I can't wait.
It looks to me like someone has been watching THE WICKER MAN. And that's a good thing. Still, I wasn't all that impressed with HEREDITARY, so I'll probably wait for this one on DVD.

Clearly The Wicker Man is the inspiration for Midsommar, Just as Rosemary's Baby was for Hereditary.
I'll pass on this one. When it comes to weird cults like this, the truth is always far more interesting and scary than fiction.
Hereditary was good, but I personally found the ending was a disappointment. It had that same weird cult story line, too. Which I'm not necessarily a fan of in movies, because it's rarely done well.
