The genetic disorder Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) mimics antifreeze poisoning. A young mother in Missouri named Patricia Stallings was arrested and convicted of the murder of her son and he actually had this disorder.

MBP to me is 50/50 on whether the mother (or whatever) is running a scam that just gets out of control or if they just have some pathological need for attention.
