I've never seen Independence Day, either, because Will Smith doesn't appeal to me. I won't watch Mission Impossible flicks because I don't like Tom Cruise and for the longest while, I thought Bruce Willis was a loud mouth jerk; never seen Die Hard.

I get you. I can't stand Reese Witherspoon myself and pretty much refuse to watch anything she's in.

That being said, I consider Tom Cruise to be the last of the "movie stars" in that he's not really acting, but being Tom Cruise in every movie he makes. His personal intensity and drive to make a great picture really come through, and I will pretty much watch anything he makes. For me, the Mission Impossible movies are that rare series that actually gets better and better from film-to-film.

The Scientology thing really rubs some people the wrong way, and I get that too. Doesn't bother me though.

Not me.

I think I tuned into the 2nd one at the start. They were on an airplane and cutting each other down. That's not how it was in the TV series. I turned it off and never went back.

As far as Tom Cruise goes, seen Risky B., Legend, Top Gun, Cocktail, and The Firm. He has never really impressed me and quite frankly, I don't see him much better than Peter North. A grinning fool who is only two dimensional.
