How come this genre hasn't come back around? Movies that were intentionally cheesy/campy?

Slumber Party Massacre II (1987)
Night of the Creeps (1986)

Or are they still around and I just aren't seeing them?

I loved "Fright night" , a good spoof of the vampire movie genre.

April Fools Day was one of my favorite cheesy horrors. In fact the ending was so awesome a bunch of people were cheering like crazy in the theater.

Return of the Living Dead was hilarious.

Frankenhooker was funny, too, but I think that was in the 90s.

Student Bodies, in an Airplane sort of way.

ALL OF THEM! That about sums the eighties horror movies up. They were all very bad, not scary and so cheesy.

Return of the Living Dead was a masterpiece - very campy! I actually like humor with horror! How cool were the funny scenes with Freddy Kreuger in the Elm Street series?

I liked ....''Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II'' as the evil ghost Mary Lou had the hots for and chased the main dude thru out the entire movie as it was very cheesy indeed .

The other one is ''Happy Birthday To Me'' staring Little House on the Prairie star (Mary) Melissa Sue Anderson as the female psycho killer kills all her school friends thru-out the movie and at the end sits the rotting corpses around the table as she's singing Happy Birthday to herself with her birthday cake candles lit as it was another doozie .

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) was another good one. Dean Wormer was in it.
