"Let's Scare Jessica to Death", a 1971 scary that turned up on TCM. I watched it just to see Zohra Lampert, whose name I stilll remembered from a fascinating character who showed up in a 1965 episode of "Trials of O'Brieh", a short-lived pre-Columbo series that starred Peter Falk. Zohra played a wonderfully flaky girl, back in the days when flaky still meant goofy grin and funny hat, and she was years ahead of her time. Never got the big break in Hollywood, and I've been waiting nearly 50 years to hear her name again. According to IMDB, she made a picture in 2010, after a decade without a credit.
For a 1971 shocker, "Jessica" has stood up pretty well, and is not bad for that genre.
After Porn Ends - a documentary type film, TWC movies on demand.
Its an interesting question, how is life for porn performers after they leave porn? Not sure this movie did the question justice but it wasn't too bad.
Very passive voice, no questions, just former porn stars talking, ostensibly about life after porn. One porn historian giving some of his opinions after being involved with the industry for years, one anti-porn? writers views.
I thought the former porn guys were too old to be relevant really. The industry has changed and blown up a lot since their days. Don't know why they couldn't find anyone younger.
General impression? Once you are a recognizable name in porn, its very hard to leave it behind. But I think part of that is the personalities of the people themselves.
Swinging with the Finkles, on Netflix. The first half of that movie is so awkward, it was making me laugh. But I thought the story was a pretty close hit to the reality of many marriages and the work they take to not lead to divorce. (I mean, that's what I gathered, being that I'm the type that takes a message from EVERY movie I watch).
Mona Lisa - well done. The ending was a bit off for me. But recommend.
Mona Lisa is a 1986 British film about a petty criminal who becomes entangled in the dangerous life of a high-class call girl. The movie was written by Neil Jordan and David Leland, and directed by Jordan. It was produced by George Harrison's HandMade Films. It stars Bob Hoskins, Cathy Tyson and Michael Caine.
